  Imaging Informatics Division

The Imaging Informatics Group aims to work with experimentalists within and beyond the Biopolis to understand cellular processes at the molecular level by analyzing real-time high resolution imaging data from live cells and tissues. The aim is to seek insight into the dynamics of phenotype generation arising from selective expression of the genome under different experimental conditions and perturbations. Our technology focus will be to develop and deploy algorithms and tools incorporating multi-layer image representation and query for the analysis of data from real-time high resolution live cell/tissue imaging, high content and high throughput imaging as well as flow-cytometry. One of the long term goals of this group is to develop and deploy cyber-infrastructure and analytic capabilities within a distributed imaging informatics platform and a web-base visual interface to aid basic research and drug discovery research.

Candidates should have excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude to working in a multidisciplinary environment. Qualified candidates will explore biomedical computing applications in the framework of the above project, in a mentored, semi-independent, and team-intensive environment. Appointments will be based on domain expertise, experience, track record and project focus.

Requirements:
  • A PhD in Biomedical Imaging and Analysis / Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Engineering or related fields
  • Proven research track record in related fields
  • A strong track record of international publications and experience in leading a research group is a pre-requisite
  • A good team player, independent, self driven with good interpersonal skills

Post Doctoral Research Fellows in Biological Computer Vision
Our group focuses on 3D time-lapse imaging of biological processes and the development of computing tools for the quantitative and automated analysis of image data. Our research activities include :

  1. State-of-the-art live fluorescence microscopy (Confocal, Wide-field etc) to study developmental and cellular processes in Drosophila and other model organisms
  2. Computer vision and image processing to extract and measure biological features for pattern recognition and classification of image data

You will work in a highly interdisciplinary environment consisting of experts in biology, physics, computer science, engineering and mathematics. Candidates from various backgrounds with multiple interests and (preferably) degrees in multiple fields of science may apply for the following :-

Position 1 - Strong Focus in Life Sciences

  • PhD in Biology or Life Science related field
  • Experienced in fluorescence microscopy, video microscopy or confocal microscopy
  • Strong interest in developmental biology and cell biology
  • Worked with animal models such as Drosophila, C.elegans or Zebrafish
  • Good team player, independent, self driven with good interpersonal skills
Position 2 - Strong Focus in Computer Vision

  • PhD in computer science, engineering or related discipline
  • Expertise in computer vision, image processing and machine learning
  • Strong interest in life sciences. You should have the desire to solve biological problems using computational tools
  • Experience in fluorescence, video or confocal microscopy is advantageous
  • Good team player, independent, self driven with good interpersonal skills

Research Associates in Biological Computer Vision
Our group focuses on 3D time-lapse imaging of biological processes and the development of computing tools for the quantitative and automated analysis of image data. Our research activities include :
