The major goal is the determination of the various aspects of molecular and cellular function (enzymatic activities, posttranslational modifications, 3D structures, translocation signals, etc.) of gene products available in form of uncharacterized genome sequences and the discovery of new cellular pathways with methods from computational biology and experimental biochemistry. Functional interpretation of genome data in terms of biomolecular mechanisms is the major task in fundamental life science. Research results in this area will boost mechanistic research in other areas such as cell biology, genetics, immunology and disease-oriented fields. This is a first and necessary step towards systematic understanding of biological systems.

Applicants for Research Scientists position should have a strong track record of international publications to build and lead research groups. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude to working in a multidisciplinary environment. Qualified candidates will explore biomedical computing applications in the framework of the above project, in a mentored, semi-independent, and team-intensive environment. Appointments will be based on domain expertise, experience, track record and project focus.

Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
You will develop and perform biochemical as well as genetic approaches to isolate and characterize a yet unknown but crucial enzyme. Future drug development is the long term goal. You will do benchwork with strong bioinformatics support

Requirements:

• PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related field
• Experienced in NH4SO4 precipitation, affinity purification, size exclusion chromatography and Ion exchange chromatography
• Relevant exposure in genetics/molecular biology such as tissue culture, standard cloning techniques, setting up enzymatic assays, sRNAi and 2-Hybrid screen
• Good team player, independent, self driven with initiatives to work in a multi-disciplinary environment
